Introduction to the Chicago Manual of Style: A Three-hour Workshop
I have not given this workshop in quite awhile, but generally this workshop is for those who would like to standardize journals or books according to the bible of academic publishing, the Chicago Manual of Style. The workshop introduces participants to Chicago's standards regarding punctuation, capitalization, terms, numbers, quotations, foreign languages, abbreviations, and documentation. The differences between Chicago and other popular style manuals (like the Modern Language Association handbook or the American Psychological Association handbook) are also covered. A consistent style is an important part of a journal's reputation since regular patterns improve readability and signal meticulous scholarship.
